Omaha

I have lived in Omaha since 2013. Originally from West River South Dakota, I met my husband Casey in college and together we moved down here and married. I currently live in Northwest Omaha with my husband, 2 kids, and our rambunctious dog. I enjoy Omaha’s never-ending things to do! It has the benefits of being a big city without the traffic jams and noisy atmosphere. Before kids, my husband and I loved wandering downtown and grabbing a drink or a bite to eat and we are still able to continue doing so with our children; Omaha is so family friendly. Since having kids, my eyes have only opened more to the opportunities of the city. We love the obvious kid activities such as the children’s museum and zoo, but we also enjoy some of the more unique Omaha area finds like the city’s free splash pads and parks. I also appreciate the amazing opportunities for new and seasoned mamas. Crunchy or not, the perfect IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) is right around the corner. Need a doula, midwife, or new OBGYN? There are plenty of mamas ready to give you a reference. I’ve lived in many different cities around the country, and Omaha is definitely one of the locations that tops the list for having tons of motherly support!

Mom

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a mother. My vision has changed a bit, I no longer want 12 children and I don’t serve meals that resemble something from Master Chef Junior. But I’m a great mother and I do my very best for my kiddos. I have two beautiful monsters. My daughter Arlo (3) is a tender- hearted strong willed little girl with enough sass and spunk to rule the world. My son Hayes (1) is a laid-back mama-loving boy who couldn’t stop moving or smiling, if his life depended on it. I love all things motherhood and wouldn’t trade this job for any other. I stay home with my littles, and we enjoy keeping ourselves busy with activities outside of the house. I love watching my children explore the world and learn together. Having them so close in age can be a challenge as it tests my patience daily (hourly?) but I truly love how close of a relationship they have. Some days are more challenging than others of course. These are the days I run to my mama tribe for support or sneak an hour of yoga in.  “You can’t pour from an empty cup” they say.  Do I sleep? Not really. Do I get to pee alone? Never. Do I love it? Every. Dang. Second.

Blog

I am SO excited to be a part of this tribe and write for OMB! I have always enjoyed writing and what better way to combine my two loves than a mom’s blog (duh!)? I love writing about the obvious stuff but also enjoy sharing my unique experiences with motherhood. Having ridden the infertility roller coaster, enjoyed two high risk pregnancies, birthed two growth restricted babies, and fought in the NICU with one preemie, I like to think I can be a resource for other mothers going through similar challenges. Believe it or not, I really loved being pregnant and my baby fever is only getting worse (sorry hubby!).

Brey is married to her husband, Casey and stays home with her two little babes; her daughter Arlo (3) and son Hayes (1). Originally from the Black Hills, Brey has called Omaha home since 2013. Always sporting the baby on her hip and a coffee in her hand, she enjoys staying busy and getting out of the house. She has a love for all things motherhood and appreciates a good birth story. In her spare time she enjoys escaping to a yoga class, exploring the outdoors with her littles, and traveling. Her hobbies include sneaking a glass of wine and a frozen snickers (which she hid in the ice machine) while binge watching the next best tv show.
