Omaha Moms Blog :: Introducing Sunni

Omaha

I have lived in the Omaha area for about 18 years now. Although I was born and raised in a small town in Southwest Iowa. I moved to Omaha for college and stayed. I love it because it’s a city with many options, with a small town atmosphere. It’s a great place to raise kids because you have the small town feel but you still have many different opportunities and activities.

Moms

I have 2 kids and 3 older stepchildren. Michael is 17, Allison and Molly are 15 and together my wonderful husband, David, and I have Jonah (10) and Brooklyn (4). What I find most challenging in being a mother is being a blended family and always trying to find a balance. A balance between being a mom, being a step-mom (love, care, but not completely a mom), a wife, and working full time. I love my kids and family, though, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

Blog

With all of this and my experiences in life, I can offer unique perspectives on many areas of motherhood. I am also excited to meet and talk with other mothers in the Omaha area-whether they have the same blended family, adopted families, are a single parent, or have their own family. I’m a working mom but I have also been a stay at home mom so I can relate to both. I am hopeful that my posts allow moms to see that they’re not alone, that it’s not always perfect. And even though you’re probably laughing and crying at every day occurrences during motherhood now, it probably won’t be much different when you look back on those memories. Chances are you will still laugh and cry. But we can all laugh and cry together, which makes life a little bit easier!

  1. Hi Sunni! I look forward to hearing your stories and wisdom in being a mom and a step mom. I, too, have a teaching degree in English, though I have yet to use it in a professional setting. I am a firm believer that it takes social people to nurture and guide hordes of junior high kids! LOL
