Hi everyone! I’m Neidy (pronounced nay-dee) and I am more than excited to write for the Omaha Moms Blog and for you to get to know me.
Omaha
I have lived all around town since moving here in 2012 after my husband’s active duty stint in the Marine Corps. We first lived in Omaha proper, then moved to La Vista, and finally settled in East Council Bluffs. Every part of town has qualities that I have enjoyed, but East Council Bluffs has quickly captured my heart. My favorite aspect about the Omaha metro area is that while it definitely has many big city amenities and characteristics, it has a charm and pace that many smaller towns exhibit. I grew up in Atlanta, an extremely fast-paced area, so this was a welcome change! Because of its slower pace and unique charm, I have loved raising my children in this remarkable area. They even get to experience all 4 seasons … sometimes all in one day!
Moms
I wish I could spend all day telling you about my amazing children, but I’ll refrain! My oldest, Charlie, is five. He plays the cello with String Sprouts, a program run by the Omaha Conservatory of Music, is an active swimmer, often asks way too many questions, and has an infectious laugh. My daughter, Tegan, is three. She’s a handful as well; she does gymnastics once a week, but is often found hanging off of any thing and every thing. She is also found sporting her little blue bunny everywhere she goes. Finally, my last child is my newest. Edison, or Eddie as we have started calling him, was born May 1, 2017. I don’t know too much about him yet, other than he has a full head of hair and frequently nurses, but I can’t wait to find out! I love that motherhood has made me slow down and appreciate life just a bit more; watching my children grow up into their own unique human beings is like watching a flower blossom. What’s challenging is the very thing that I enjoy about motherhood—sometimes it’s hard to slow down and be patient!
Blog
I’m excited to write for the Omaha Moms Blog simply because I enjoy every aspect about living in Omaha and I want to record it for myself. I believe that when we write things down, we can remember certain memories more vividly. I’ve had the privilege of wearing many hats throughout my experience as a mom: I have been a military spouse, a student, a homeschool mom, a first time parent, and third time parent. I hope that my perspective can encourage, uplift, and provide some insight in what it’s like to be a mom in Omaha.
Neidy- Congrats on the new little addition to your family and to the new opportunities for writing your story. I love to hear about people who aren’t from the Midwest and end up loving it as much as the natives do. Looking forward to your future posts!
Thank you, thank you! I more than appreciate support!
Hi Neidy. So nice to have met you the other day. My children are spaced apart about the same as yours. How well I remember the joys and challenges this stage of motherhood brings. I bet you are going to rock bring a mother of three.
You are so sweet!! It’s certainly been a wild ride these past few weeks with a new little one! I can’t wait to read more about your perspective Jen; I know I could learn from you!
I’m excited to get to know you better, Neidy! I can’t wait to read your posts.
