Omaha Moms Blog: Introducing Kassandra

Omaha

You know how they say that there are 6 degrees of separation? Well, if you’ve lived in Omaha your whole life like I have, it feels more like 3! So, while I may or may not have met you yet, I’m excited to get to know you better through the Omaha Moms Blog!  Just like this blog, Omaha is an eclectic mix of men, women, and families who are drawn to it’s small town feel with BIG opportunities to grow. This is why my husband (an Omaha Native himself) and I have chosen to stay and raise our family, to work within the community through our small businesses, and engage in it’s deep history and culture. While I spent most of my teenage years pinning to get out, once I had a taste of the coasts and visited three countries, I knew I would never call another place home.  In fact, my little family of three, is the fourth generation to live in our house! No matter where I go in life, Omaha will always be my center, my place, my people, my taste of “the good life.”

Moms

It was a long and hard road to motherhood for me. I endured ten years of infertility, more pokes and prods than I ever knew was humanly possible and shed more tears than one person ever should have too. But now that I’m here? I’m happily exhausted! This June, I will be celebrating my second year as a mother to one of the most fiercest, sassiest, adorable, little humans to ever grace this earth. My Eloise came into this world how she wanted and has kept me on my toes ever since. Not gonna lie, there are days when I’m scared of her knowing full well that she can outwit me at any moment. I have found motherhood to be like nothing I ever imagined. I never knew you could love someone like I love her. My hubby and I are completely in awe of how she see’s the world and it has encouraged us to slow down and open our eyes a little wider. Our biggest challenge is just balancing all that this life throws at us.  We recently miscarried in October and now feel the pangs of wanting to grow our family again. This will be our last chance with IVF and have already begun researching adoption agencies. I’m thankful to have my little girl and look forward to what the future holds for us.

Blog

As a contributor for the Omaha Moms Blog, I’m excited to get to show my perspective of this crazy-beautiful city we all call home. I look forward to sharing my families adventures with you as well as writing about the mishaps in our life. We all need community and as a mother, it’s even more necessary. I can’t wait to share my story with you as well as learn from a couple chapters in your life! This blog is a great way to connect with other moms in the city as well as find a few hidden gems that can help us be the best versions of ourselves. See you soon lovelies!!

Kassandra
Born and raised in Omaha, Kassandra has a heart for her city and loves that she can call it home. After ten years battling infertility, she and her husband of 14 years, Nicholas, have a beautiful feisty little firecracker named Eloise (2015). Kassandra formerly taught preschool for 15 years and decided to leave teaching in a school setting to help her friend start up "The Wonder Nook" (a space of creativity and wonderment for all ages) When time allows it, you will more than likely find Kassandra somewhere writing, dreaming, doing.

  1. It was so nice to meet you, Kassandra! I agree, Omaha is a great “center” to have. I look forward to reading your posts!

  2. It was fun getting to chat with you in the frazzled heat while we waited for pictures! I giggled at your description of your “firecracker,” because I have one too, my daughter as well. She leaves little piles of explosions wherever she goes. I can always trace her movements throughout the house because the aftermath is so evident. Of course, it’s her personality that sparkles the most. Looking forward to getting to know you better.
