Join Our Team

Do you have things you’d like to say about parenting, being a grandparent, starting a family, or what you love about our community? If so, we are looking for you! We are expanding our team of writers, and we’d love to hear your fresh perspective on what it is like to be a parent in the Omaha area. Applications are due July 10th!

What do I get out of this?

If you become a contributor, you will gain access to Omaha Mom team events, join a network of moms in the Omaha area, receive a head-shot from a professional photographer, and have your photo and bio appear on the Omaha Mom Contributor Page (with links to your personal blog, social media handles, or business pages if you choose to share them). You will get an opportunity to test out products and/or services for review as they become available to OM. You will have access to complimentary or discounted tickets to OM events. Finally, you will receive an opportunity to build a community and meet other people with varied backgrounds and lifestyles.

Do I need to be a writer?

No! We are looking for fresh, local voices that are passionate about their community and want to share their stories. We are looking for people who want to connect with others. We can help train you on writing, and we do require that you have strong communication skills and have access to Facebook/Instagram.

Do I need to be a mom?

Not necessarily! We are hoping to grow by diversifying our team to include more voices on parenting that represent more unique family dynamics. We’d love to hear about you and possibly include you on our team!

What is expected of me?

  • 1. Submit one *fresh and unique* blog post a month (ideally 400-800 words long). We do not accept previously published content. OR 2. Submit two original microblogs a month. OR 3. Submit two Instagram posts and do a stories takeover.
  • Be present, when possible, at OM events and contributor socials/gatherings (which are designed to be a great time).
  • Have an active Facebook page (for team communication and social engagement).
  • Have a passion for family and the Omaha community.
  • Commit to us for one year.
  • Be comfortable with social media and tech, generally.
  • Have a reliable, respectful, positive, and fun personality.
  • Be engaged within our team page and on our social media accounts. Commenting and engaging on our social media accounts. Engagement on your own articles as well as others.

Do you give me topics, or do I come up with them on my own?

We give monthly topic ideas, but you are welcome to ask the team for ideas, or you can come up with your own!

What do I write about?

Our posts focus on parenthood, friendships, partnerships, community, and Omaha.

How do I apply?

Yeah! We can’t wait to learn more about you! The application is below. If you’d like to be an applicant, please include a previously unpublished blog post or written piece for us to review as your sample. Our articles should be aimed at connecting, empowering, informing, or encouraging moms in our community through your own unique experiences. If you are invited to join the team and choose to do so, we will use this first piece as your submission for July (so you are able to hit the ground running!). Applications are due July 10th!

Your sample should be:

  • between 400-800 words (less can be more!)
  • well-edited
  • topical to parenthood/friendships/partnerships/community/Omaha living
  • profanity-free

  • Max. file size: 900 MB.
Best Practices: submit 300-800 well edited words. No cursing. No politics. Not plagiarized. If you are brought onto the team, this will be an option to submit as a blog post!
