Omaha

I still consider myself new to the Omaha area, we moved here in 2014 from Dallas, Texas. I got a job with Gordmans headquarters and Chris started working remotely with his company in Dallas. The main draw of Omaha for us was the proximity to both of our families in Iowa. We are now close enough for quick weekend trips home, but in a city with the amenities we became accustomed to. Plus after being in Texas for eight years, I really appreciate the seasons (though I could do without the snowstorms in April). I absolutely love Omaha; it is the perfect location for our family and we have just barely scratched the surface of what Omaha has to offer!

Moms

I am mom to fraternal twin girls Edith and Eloise, who are two-and-half-year-old toddler tornadoes. Being a stay-at-home mom is the most challenging yet rewarding job I have ever held. We have a unique situation because my husband also works from home, except he gets to communicate with adults and receives an actual paycheck…I’m currently getting paid in animal crackers and find myself wondering what’s going on in Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. I love being a mom, but it is hard! There are moments I question my choice to stay home full time…like this week when they both refused to wear diapers and wanted to try potty training again…Dear God, send me all the wine! But then my little tornadoes will do something super sweet or funny and it confirms my decision. Being their mom is awesome, and I’m so happy to not be missing these moments. E&E are at a fun age right now and I’m so proud of the independent, intelligent, and kind young ladies they are growing into. The days are long but the years are short, I wouldn’t trade being their mom for all the gold in the world.

Blog

I’m so excited to be part of such an amazing network of moms! Motherhood can be very isolating, blogs are such an easy and fun way to connect to others going through similar chaos. I’m definitely not a professional writer or an expert in motherhood by any means, but I love sharing my experiences and connecting with other women. Struggling with infertility, going through IVF treatments, and then being blessed with twins has definitely given me a unique perspective to motherhood. I always joke that I was an expert in parenting before I had kids, now I realize there is no such thing as being a perfect parent and motherhood is basically just survival…and dry shampoo.
