Omaha

I am a born and raised Omahan and proud of it!  To equate that mathematically, I have lived here for nearly 31 years and am still discovering new things about the city daily.  I grew up in Ralston, a small suburb of Omaha, which gave me that small town taste in a big city feel.  I love that there’s no need for carpool lanes here because you can drive across town in less than 45 minutes!  Omaha is a great place to be a mom, just ask those who voted it as a top 10 place to raise a family.  Our favorite thing to do as a family is visit Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo, one of the best in the world. This summer, we are most looking forward to some new splash pads in our area. Splash pads are a great way for our boys to blow off some energy and get wet! I love that Omaha has so many activities to offer to families and that there is really no chance to be bored.

Moms

I am blessed enough to be called Mom by two precious boys, Cooper and Crue.  Soon, our third little dude named Cade will join our crew and we couldn’t be more thrilled.  Our guys are the perfect mixture of exuberant, silly, and sweet.  This mommy is having a tough time coming to terms with the fact that my oldest, Cooper, will be off to Kindergarten this fall.  I became a stay-at-home mom when he was born almost 6 years ago, so, it will be difficult for me to navigate through my days without him always with me.  Crue will be attending Pre-School this year and he couldn’t be more excited!  He really loves to learn and meet new friends.  Something that I love about motherhood is the unpredictability of it, which is oddly enough what I also find challenging.  Unpredictability is good for me.  It keeps me on my toes and it helps me to react only in the moment, rather than living in what has happened or what could happen.  It offers me patience and gives me opportunities to learn from mistakes.  Unpredictability also is a challenge for me.  I am a person who feels the need to always hold life by the reins.  I have never been one to fly by the seat of my pants, so the spontaneity of motherhood both excites me and challenges me (I love a good challenge).

Blog

I am beyond excited to be a new contributor to Omaha Moms Blog!  I have always wanted to start to blog, especially about being a mother and a woman, so this opportunity presented itself at a perfect time for me.  There is something about writing my ideas and feelings down that leaves me refreshed and renewed.  I also like to add in a bit of sarcasm and humor into my writing, as there is nothing better than making someone laugh or smile.  I can’t wait to share my thoughts and experiences with other moms in the surrounding Omaha area.  I have things to share about being a boy momma, going through recurrent miscarriages, life as a stay-at-home mom, and more.  I am hoping to make connections through my blogs with the other moms of Omaha, especially those who share similar experiences.
