Food, Family, and Fun at McAlister’s Deli

We are excited to partner with McAlister's Deli for this sponsored post.

McAlister’s Deli will be opening a new location in Omaha on Friday, August 31st at 603 South 72nd Street, Suite B.  They are open from 10:30am-10pm and this is a must try restaurant for all families!

High quality, affordable price

One thing that makes McAlister’s business unique is their commitment to families to offer healthy and affordable kids’ meals. We all know as moms that it’s sometimes hard to get our kids to eat healthy, and especially when eating out.

McAlister’s kids’ meals are priced at $1.99 for dine-in and $2.99 take-out. This price is amazing for a child’s meal! In addition, the quality of food is high; this enables the children to make healthier choices for themselves and allows parents to feel good about what their child is eating. I love that McAlister’s believes spending time together should never come at a high cost and their menu demonstrates this!

The kids’ menu has 7 options:

  • Roll-ups: Smoked turkey, black forest ham or grilled chicken strips
  • Kids Spud: An Idaho potato with a few choices for toppings
  • Chicken & Broccoli Bowl: Grilled chicken with steamed broccoli and cheddar-jack cheese
  • French Bread Pizza: French bread topped with cheese and tomato sauce
  • Mac & Cheese: Macaroni noodles with cheddar, American and Neufchatel cheeses (a definite fan favorite in my house)
  • Kids McA89 Salad: Greens with cucumbers, tomatoes and croutons with dressing and either turkey, ham or chicken for protein.
  • Toasted Cheese Sandwich: Cheddar cheese on toasted wheat bread (another favorite of ours)

The sides are amazing with steamed veggies, potato salad, fresh fruit, applesauce, chips, mac and cheese or mashed potatoes. There are so many options and combinations here you are sure to find a great meal your kids will love, just as ours did!

Gone are the days of unhealthy take out also. With McAlister’s app, your family can order food to go and have it ready for you to pick up and run out the door to soccer, dance, or any other activity!

Family atmosphere

The casual laid back environment of McAlister’s was relieving and refreshing. There are many sitting options depending on how many people you have in your family and the mood of each one of them.

After ordering, the kids were each given a coloring pack with activities and crayons that kept even my 2-year-old busy until the food came. My kids’ favorite things were the really long bendy straws, so the cups didn’t have to get tipped or put really close to the edge of the table… they were a mom’s favorite too!

As my kids and I were sitting there eating, I felt like we were in a restaurant with friends we had known for a long time. All the staff were welcoming and inviting and willing to go out of their way to help us with anything we needed. Several times the staff offered to fill our waters and promptly removed our plates when we were finished allowing us to have additional family time fun.

Double Bonus

As a mom of a child with special needs, I want to give a special huge shout-out to the staff members who were helping train a young man with Down syndrome learn the skills he needs to work at the restaurant. I applaud them for their patience and determination to help him, and this brought tears to my eyes to see the smiles on his face. Not only is McAlister’s committed to families but their willingness to hire and train employees who have special needs raised them another notch in my mind!

All thumbs up in our family

My family and I had a great time at McAlister’s. It will definitely be on our short list of places to eat in or grab food on the go. They offer high quality food with a price that’s affordable. I appreciate their commitment to helping families spend time together. As we were leaving I asked my kids what they thought, and everyone gave it a thumbs up. I know your family will, too!
