Behold the Magic of the Internet. . .Online Grocery Shopping

I have to tell you about the most amazing invention ever in the history of anything…ONLINE GROCERY SHOPPING. The wheel is great, TV is cool…but being able to buy an entire supply of groceries and not even stepping foot into the grocery store?!?!

LIFE CHANGING!!

My sister and I were pregnant at the same time in the summer of 2016. She was due with her first baby in September and I was due with my last baby in August. I wanted to throw a baby shower for her. We scheduled it for early July in an attempt to avoid having to host a baby shower while massively pregnant! But life had other plans, and I delivered Easton at the end of June at 33 weeks pregnant. He was in the NICU and I was recovering from a c-section, but I was going to host this baby shower no matter what!!

Lo and behold…online grocery shopping to the rescue! While Adam was at home cleaning the house (this guy is a gem, people), I was in the NICU with Easton ordering food from my phone to pick up on my way home! The shower went off without a hitch and I didn’t have to spend valuable time wandering the aisles and debating between different brands of everything I was putting into my cart.

Fast forward to December of this year. . . we had just returned from Disney World and our fridge and pantry were down to the bare bones. Man cannot live on Pop-Tarts alone and Adam was out of town! I didn’t have any desire to step foot into Walmart during the Holidays alone with my three boys! Online grocery shopping to the rescue again! And that was the moment when I asked myself…why do I even go grocery shopping in a traditional manner anymore?! I haven’t bought groceries in a store since then!

One of my resolutions for 2018 is to get more time back. I can do that easily by using online grocery ordering instead of the hour (at least) I would spend at the grocery store each week. There’s also that added benefit of less impulse shopping! I can’t tell you how many times I go to the store for milk and bananas and leave with an entire cart full of things we don’t need!

There’s just something so sweet about planning my menu and carting my groceries from my couch with a cup of coffee nearby and not having to worry about finding the cart without a wonky wheel! I’m sure I’ll still roam the aisles of Super Target now and again (mostly because I love that place), but I’m definitely going to be using online grocery ordering regularly from here on out!!

Where Can I Get This Magic?!

I know of three grocery store chains in the Omaha area that offer online shopping. Wal-Mart pick-up is always free and they require a minimum order of just $30. Baker’s offers both pick-up and delivery. Their pick-up service is free for your first three orders, but I’m unsure of the fee after that. The delivery service comes with a fee as well. More information on those fees can be found on their website as the fees vary by location. HyVee also offers both pick-up and delivery services. The fees for both of these options vary, so it’s best to check on their website for more information! Happy Shopping!

Sarah
Sarah has lived in the Omaha area her entire life. She currently lives in Papillion with her husband, Adam and their sons Turner, Camden, and Easton. Their son, Bennett, passed away shortly after his birth and is a cherished member of the family’s daily life. Currently a homeschooling stay at home mom, Sarah loves the hustle and bustle of life with all of her boys! There’s never a quiet moment! She loves baseball, football, reading, traveling (mostly to Disney World), Harry Potter, pretending to be organized with the help of her planner and long, quiet Starbucks enhanced walks around Target!
