A Happy Hour You Need, Mama

happy hourBeing a mom in Omaha is great. We have a great group of mamas around us that give support to one another. There are always fun family activities going on around the metro, too, that you and your kids can enjoy together. But what about those times you just need a little mama’s night out? A happy hour or a great drink that will make the earlier screams of your toddler just disappear? I have a few spots for you!

Blue Sushi Saki Grill

To start, if you are looking for a good happy hour, you can’t pass up Blue Sushi. It’s probably a pretty typical suggestion for us Omahans, but their sushi is so good, and they have a great discounted happy hour menu. Not to mention, there are three different locations that are pretty much on each side of town. If you need a suggestion I would go for the lettuce wraps to start, specialty nigiri – Blue Balls, Rolls – Crunchy L.A., Crunchy Blue and the Hawaiian Roll. If you love a good dirty martini, I would highly suggest their Dirty Blue. Check out there happy hour menu here.

Inkwell

If you are going for more specialty drinks head to Inkwell in Countryside Village. This place has a chill atmosphere and such. great. cocktails. Their drinks are unique and refreshing. One of my personal suggestions would have to be the Spring 75. Besides having great specialty drinks, they have a wide variety local beers. Check out their happy hour every day 3pm-6pm with $3 beers and $5 old fashions and daiquiris.

Pitch

If you have a wide variety of drinkers, I would suggest going to Pitch. Their wine selection? Good. Their beer selection? Good. Their mixed drinks? Gooooood. Do you see a theme going on here? Pitch is a great destination for a girls meet-up for happy hour or a dinner date with the husband. Suggestions from this girl would include the roasted Brussels sprouts, truffle fries, Thai shrimp salad, or The Doc pizza. Not to mention, the west location has a rooftop bar you can sit.

Farnam House Brewing

If you love a good beer (and a local one), we have so many great breweries here in Omaha (which is a whole different post). One of the breweries I would suggest checking out is Farnam House Brewing Company. Located in the Blackstone District in a sweet building, Farnam House has so many good beers but also has a great variety of food. I haven’t had a beer I didn’t like there! I’d personally go for a flight so you can try several different ones they have to offer. The other things I love about Farnam House is everyone there is SO nice and welcoming. This place is also baby friendly; (nobody blinked an eye when I brought in my 6 month old). Check them out!

Blatt Beer & Table

Last, but not least, if you’re looking for a place to hang before or after a ballgame at TD Ameritrade Park or a concert at The CenturyLink Center, Blatt Beer & Table is the definite place to go. With an awesome rooftop downtown, The Blatt is the place to be. They have a wide variety of craft beer and amazingly great pub food. While the downtown location is my favorite, The Blatt has another location out west and at Flagship Commons in Westroads. It makes it easy to grab a drink when you are in the midst of shopping – their menu is super kids friendly too.

Take some time for yourself, mama, and check out these fab places for a great lunch, happy hour, or dinner out. These are just a few of my favorites. Where are some of your go-to places when you need to wind down? We’d love to know!
