Chemical Free Cleaning

If you’re like me, cleaning is not one of your favorite things.

Disney makes it look so easy breezy when Cinderella’s forest friends come and sing to her, help her fold laundry, and make cleaning enjoyable. That’s far from the reality at my house! What can make it even more frustrating is trying to figure out which products are safe while still being effective. Once I had children, I became a more aware of what chemicals were in my home, especially because I didn’t want one of my kiddos getting a hold of it and accidentally ingesting it. So, I started looking for more cost effective, safe, and efficient cleaners.

Counters, Tubs, and Title

A 50/50 vinegar-water solution will clean tile, cabinets fronts, and counters.
A baking soda and water paste will help remove gunk from the shower or tub, and you can also add vinegar instead of water for really tough stains.

Toilets

Sprinkle some baking soda around the inside of the toilet (enough to coat the inside). Next, pour in one cup of vinegar. Allow the mixture to bubble a bit then scrub. The combo of both cleaners helps remove the stains and also any lingering smells.

Floors

1/4 cup of white vinegar with 1 quart of hot water is all you need! Mop/scrub in small sections and rinse as needed. You can also add 3 drops lemon essential oil to make it smell fresh!

Mirrors

This is the one area that I buy something specific for. A microfiber cloth makes ALL the difference here. Spray just a bit of water (you can also mix water and vinegar if you want) on your mirror and wipe down with your microfiber cloth. No streaks, no mess, no chemicals! So amazing!

What are some nontoxic cleaners that you use? Let us know!
