Hey Party People, my name is Cam Vacek and super stoked I made it into the Omaha Mom’s Blog writing team. Omaha is home to my husband and I and our 3 girls. We love that Omaha is a “small, big city”. It’s small enough to be about 2-3 degrees of separation, yet has many of the opportunities and culture of a big city.
While I can’t compare Omaha to other cities, I can personally speak to the strong Mom community we have here. There are endless ways for Moms to get involved- whether through local church groups, geographic groups, hobby groups, school groups, etc. Not to mention the endless outing options for kids including the zoo, museum, forest, parks, and child-friendly businesses. This is truly a great place to raise a family.
As mentioned above, I’m a girl mom to 3 beautiful girls- Evelyn, Annabel, and Madeline. Mothering these girls has been one of my greatest joys and challenges simultaneously. You really learn how unselfish you can be through late night feedings, endless pumping, sleep deprivation, diet limitations, financial sacrifices, professional sacrifices, and much more.
Nevertheless, this is everything I dreamed of as a little girl. To have children who long for me in the middle of the night when they’ve had a nightmare, who look to me for comfort during distress, and to those I get to love unconditionally through tantrums, attitude, and hangriness. Especially the hangriness.
You gain a deeper appreciation for your own parents and all the parents out there. They’ve taught me so much about myself and through it; I’ve become a better person.
I’m excited to join a community of other bloggers through Omaha Mom’s Blog. We’re so much better when we work together to share ideas, perspectives, and information. I look forward to meeting each person and learning from them.
At the same time, I’m excited to share the things I’ve learned. I’ve had the opportunity to do some really fun projects through my own blog and I hope to share some of ideas and tactics with other Moms. The community of Moms is a force to be reckoned with and I’m excited to be part of it!
